The young Leni Riefenstahl danced by the sea-side in the silent film Holy Mountain (1926). Arnold Fanck, director of the film, captured breathtaking Winter mountain scenes in the German Alps. Fanck was a geologist, but was best remembered as the pioneer of the "bergfilme" mountain film genre.
